Rosehall Woodcarvers Background
This is a tightknit group of artisans that have been working together on the Rose hall property (outside Montego Bay) since they where children. They grew up climbing some of the trees they are now using to make beautiful art works. For years the carvers worked using only the most basic hand tools, felling trees with only a machete and making chisels from old metal piping.
The team use carefully chosen beautiful pieces of Mahogany, lignum vitae and Quick stick, mostly sourced from the Rosehall property. Many of these woods where old roots or trunks, which came down 50 years ago and are 150 years old.
